The Woman Behind The Code

Who Is This Chick Anyways?

Founder, The Arousal Code
"I didn't set out to become a sex educator. I set out to heal. And then I discovered that healing and desire were the same current, just flowing in different directions."

Miss Joy is one of the original pioneers of the women's sexual intelligence movement, a sex educator, tantra instructor, and yoga teacher whose work has touched millions through her books, podcast, blog, and decades of private coaching.

Her work began in a small healing practice, a room where she first witnessed what happened when people were given permission to feel. Not perform. Not achieve. Just feel. That room became the seed of everything The Arousal Code would become.

Over two decades, she has guided hundreds of clients. From executives to artists, from couples on the edge to individuals reclaiming their bodies after trauma, through nervous-system repair, erotic intelligence, and embodied leadership.

She is the author of The Arousal Code, The Untamed Healer, Immersed, and SonaTierra: A Living Blueprint. She is the Founder of The Arousal Code and Director of the SonaTierra Foundation. Currently based in Las Vegas.

"I walked through the dark, through shame, through silence, and chose again and again to rise in confidence, pleasure, and truth. This work is not about becoming perfect. It's about becoming present."
The Work & The Path

Two Decades of Devotion

Pioneer

One of the original voices in what is now emerging as women's sexual intelligence, Joy has been exploring and articulating the deeper layers of erotic awareness long before it entered mainstream conversation. Her work moves beyond surface-level empowerment into the lived reality of how sexual energy shapes identity, relationships, and personal power. She stands at the edge of a movement still taking form, helping define a language and pathway for understanding desire not as something to control, but as something to master and integrate.

Sex Educator

With over two decades of direct, hands-on experience, Joy has guided men, women, and couples through the often unspoken terrain of sexuality, intimacy, and relational dynamics. Her approach is grounded in lived experience, deep observation, and real-world patterns of human behavior. She works with individuals navigating disconnection and dysfunction, as well as those seeking to expand into deeper pleasure, presence, and connection. Her work brings clarity to what is often confusing and direction to what has felt out of reach.

Tantra Instructor

Joy's work is tantra-informed but not confined by tradition. She integrates principles of energy, polarity, and presence with modern understanding of the nervous system and brain, creating an approach that is both grounded and accessible. Her teachings bring tantra out of abstraction and into embodied practice, focusing on cultivating awareness within the body, expanding capacity for sensation, and developing control over one's energetic state.

Author

Joy is the author of multiple works exploring the intersection of sexuality, healing, identity, and transformation, including The Arousal Code, The Untamed Healer, Immersed, and SonaTierra: A Living Blueprint. Her writing is direct, intimate, and reflective, inviting readers into both personal inquiry and expanded understanding. Each book serves as both a transmission of insight and a practical guide, meeting the reader where they are while opening the door to deeper awareness.

Somatic Coach

As a somatic coach, Joy works directly with the body's stored patterns, helping clients regulate their nervous system, restore connection between mind and body, and build a more stable internal foundation. Her work focuses on areas where people feel reactive, stuck, or disconnected, particularly in the realms of sexuality and personal power. Through guided awareness and targeted practices, she supports the shift from unconscious patterning into conscious, embodied choice.

Body Positive Activist

Through Get Naked With Joy, Joy has spent over seven years in a near-daily practice of photographing herself unclothed in nature, creating a living expression of self-acceptance and embodied truth. These self-portraits are not about display, but about reclamation, stripping away layers of shame, conditioning, and expectation to return to what is real. By placing her natural body in natural environments, she dissolves the separation between self and world, offering a quiet yet powerful challenge to cultural narratives around worth, perfection, and visibility.

Founder

Joy is the founder of The Arousal Code and the SonaTierra Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) dedicated to creating environments that support healing, creativity, and regenerative living. Her work bridges the personal and the collective, recognizing that individual transformation and community impact are deeply connected. Through these initiatives, she is building both a body of work and a broader ecosystem designed to support long-term change and meaningful contribution.

Blogger Since 2009

Since 2009, Joy has been writing openly and consistently, documenting her experiences, insights, and evolution through her blog, unscriptedjoy.com. Her writing is raw, honest, and unapologetic, offering readers a rare level of transparency and depth. Over time, this body of work has become both a personal archive and a resource for others navigating their own path, reflecting a long-standing commitment to truth, expression, and continuous growth.

"The body does not lie. It only waits, patiently, faithfully, for you to come home."

A Path Through the Fire

There was a moment in my life where I chose to leave a deep, loving marriage. Not because it lacked love, but because it no longer aligned with who I was becoming as a woman.

It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, and for a time, it unraveled me. The years that followed were not graceful. They were raw, disorienting, and at times felt like a complete undoing.

I rebuilt from nothing, questioning everything, moving through what could only be described as a kind of midlife reckoning. I returned home; inwardly and outwardly, and began the slow, honest work of healing.

I faced the fractures in my heart and, piece by piece, applied my own version of kintsugi. Allowing the breaks to be seen, honored, and transformed.

Grounded. Disciplined. Rooted in a profound self-love I had never known before. I share this not as a story of loss, but as a path. And I am ready now to open that path to others.

Seven Years

What emerged was not a return to who I was,

but a deeper arrival into who I am now.

To those who have witnessed the depth of my love, who walked with me through its beauty and felt the quiet shock of its dissolution,

Some of you have been here since 2009. Some became friends. Some, clients.

Know this. It did not break me.
It refined me. Strengthened me. Brought me into a deeper truth.

I am here. Clear, grounded, and already working with a small number of clients.

If you feel the pull to step into something deeper with me, I am open.
A handful of spaces remain for private coaching with me this year.

To My Blog Readers

Who have witnessed the depth of my love, who walked with me through the beauty of intimacy and felt the shock of its dissolution...know this: it did not break me. It strengthened me. It refined me. It brought me into a level of truth I could not have accessed otherwise.

And to those I have yet to work with. I am returning home.
Back to the healing arts, where my heart has always belonged.

Photographer

Images as Presence

Joy is a woman deeply attuned to the beauty that lives in unguarded moments. Her photography is rooted in presence, capturing life as it unfolds rather than directing or constructing it. She is drawn to the subtle, the fleeting, the quietly powerful, the way light meets skin, the way a body exists naturally within its environment, the way emotion moves through a moment.

Her work includes both candid imagery of the world around her and intimate self-portraits that explore form, sensation, and the relationship between body and landscape. These images are not curated for perfection, but for truth. Each photograph reflects a lived moment, held with care, awareness, and a deep appreciation for the sensuality of being fully present in one's own experience.

All imagery on this site is original, unaltered, and created by Joy. A direct expression of what is real, seen, and felt.
